Hi lovely peeps,
I have some exciting news to share with you all!
As you may have seen, I (finally!) completed my degree in January of this year. I am a Naturopath!
What a time to launch myself into a new career, hey?
It took me 8 years to finish a 4-year degree – a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy). During those 8 years, I also went through some pretty massive life changes. I separated from and subsequently divorced my then-husband, I became a single mother to an outgoing & extroverted little girl (the love of my life), I moved three times, I quit my job in the Royal Australian Air Force (I had been enlisted for 13.5 years) and I found myself living in the city I was born in, but had not lived in for about 20 years – ready to start again, from ‘scratch’.
Since I began studying, I have had many, many ideas about what I want to do with my degree (and my life!) and since finishing in January of 2020, it feels as though all of those ideas have been put on hold.
This time of ‘isolation’ has led me to do something I have always thought I do well – think. (To be honest, I’ve discovered that I’m not actually good at it, I just do it a lot, mostly OVER-think. I’m practicing being more present and not allowing my thoughts to overtake my mind – a work in progress!).
So, I have been thinking. About my life and business and what I want them both to look like. What is important to me, what are my values, how do I want to live, what can I do to give and serve the greater good – these are all questions that flow through my mind daily (as well as the usual’s – Who am I? What is my purpose here? What’s the meaning of this life?.... etc, etc).
We’ve just moved past the New Moon in Gemini, with it’s themes of communication and speaking our truth, and I’ve decided to start a blog.
WTAF? I know, right?! (I say this because I am an introvert and tend to avoid things like blogs!)
I decided to do this for a few different reasons.
One – I truly believe that we, as human beings, yearn for connection, and that connection with honest, clear, open communication, with strong and respectful boundaries, is the way forward into a world that works well for everyone, not just a specific, chosen few.
I yearn for connection that encompasses all of these things, yet I’ve realized that as much as I want and need it, I have a habit of keeping myself separate, of holding myself back from communicating, communing, connecting with the humans and beings around me. And I want this to change.
Two – I have a rather good ‘Resting Bitch Face’. I sometimes come across as standoff-ish and aloof, and my aura is closed and repelling (for those who know Human Design – I’m a Manifestor, 6/2 profile, Emotional Authority. I’m also an INFJ in the Myers Briggs profiling system) and I think that it sometimes prevents people from approaching me. So, this blog is my way of putting myself out there and sharing my inner world, so you can all get to know me a bit better.
Three – I want to create a space where I can share my knowledge. I’m a really good Naturopath! I love herbal medicine and holistic health. I am especially interested in women’s health and children’s health. I believe that the simplest remedy is often the best – be it food as medicine, or lifestyle changes, or a simple mindfulness/meditation practice. That’s not to say I won’t prescribe herbs or nutrients if I think they are appropriate, I absolutely will, however simple, long-lasting ‘life-hacks’ are amazing!
And now to my (other) exciting news!
I’ve decided to do some further education in an area I am most interested in – women’s health, specifically our reproductive and sexual health, and our menstrual cycle.
I’m currently enrolled and completing a Naturopaths course on Natural Fertility.
I’m also registered to complete a comprehensive course in Natural Fertility Education which will permit me to advertise myself as a Trained Teacher in Natural Fertility Education.
In addition, I am registered to attend a course on women’s womb-centred yoga, which will allow me to teach my beloved yoga in a way that focuses on nourishing and reconnecting to our bodies, and lives, as women (whether you have a womb or not!).
All of these courses are in preparation for me opening for business as a Naturopath within the next few months!
I’ll be able to do online consulations and (perhaps) online yoga classes, in addition to my existing 1:1 yoga classes and group yoga classes.
Please let me know if any of these things resonate with you, or if you’d like to book an appointment.
I’d love to hear from you.
**I’m not going to promise that I will have a new blog at regular intervals, because I probably won’t! I practice menstrual cycle awareness and this means that my creativity ebbs and flows depending on what phase of my cycle I am in. I’ll definitely make sure to inform you via social media when I have written something new.**
Love you all, lovely peeps.
